Martin Lacey, Founder
Martin Lacey is the Managing Director and Senior Consultant at WestGlen Consult. He earned his Master in Mechanical Engineering with Distinction at the University of Strathclyde, and he is both a Chartered Engineer and a Member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. Over decades, he has authored multiple papers on engineering and hydropower topics, giving his first presentation at ICMAS 2002 in Bucharest and his presentation at the Renewable Energy World Conference and Expo 2011 in Kuala Lumpur. His primary areas of expertise are conventional and pumped storage hydropower and technical problem investigation and resolution.
A businessman as well as an engineer who loves solving problems, Martin is experienced in dispute resolution, contracts, negotiations, due diligence, and insurance claims. He is also well-versed in owner’s engineer services, site management, site organization, commissioning, testing, project scheduling, project management, and project strategy. He is someone who can be counted on in a wide variety of disparate situations day-to-day.
His career started at Weir Engineering Services and Weir Pumps Limited, he went on to become a Project Engineer in the Hydro Division at Mott Macdonald in Brighton and Glasgow. He also spent time at GE Energy and SN Power as a Commissioning Manager, Technical Manager and later a Project Director for various hydropower projects in Asia, Africa and Central America.
Martin is fluent in English and Spanish, and he is also fluent in French writing and reading.
Joseph Beveridge, Founder
Joseph Beveridge is the Director and Head of Systems Development at WestGlen Consult. He earned his Doctorate in Electrical-Mechanical Engineering at the University of Strathclyde, performing his research in pulsed power and authoring or co-authoring twenty journals and conference papers. A recognized expert in his field, he has accrued a wealth of knowledge in such diverse areas as hydropower, high-voltage power, and mechanical engineering as well.
Joseph is a natural leader who sets a sturdy example for the people around him. His chief values are challenging work and ingenuity, and as the Director and Head of Systems Development at WestGlen Consult, he will also combine his filed experiences with IT regarding system development where technology will enhance project management.
Prior to taking on his position at WestGlen Consult, Joseph was the Commissioning Manager at Statkraft in Panama and the Philippines Project Technical Manager at SN Power. He started his career in Hydropower filed at Andritz Hydro in Laos, Nam Theun II Hydropower Project and continued in various roles between 2008 and 2012. He is fluent in English and Spanish.
